In the Beginning…

I must be crazy. With two very small children I already struggle to maintain a clean and orderly household, and now I’ve decided to add a blog to the mix.

Yup, I’m crazy. So, why am I doing this?

I’ve always enjoyed writing (well… my mom, aka my homeschool teacher, might tell you otherwise), and I got the itch to start typing my thoughts a few months ago. It actually began with a comment a good friend of mine made.  I was sharing with her how even though I’m technically a Pastor’s Wife, I never view myself that way. Her response? “But you are. You are a Pastor’s Wife.”

Well, I suppose that’s true.

Ever since then I’ve been thinking (dangerous, I know) about how I can be a little more intentional about this unique role in which God has placed me. I am becoming more and more certain that a blog is the way to go. Because I’m a Pastor’s Wife. I’m a Pastor’s Wife, and I’m NOT perfect. I’m a Pastor’s Wife and I do NOT have it all together. My heart is to follow Jesus, but there are plenty of days I struggle to find time to connect with Him amidst the tantrums of a toddler and a baby who doesn’t sleep.

So, I’m starting up this blog in hopes that anyone who might read it comes away encouraged. I would like this to be a place that honors others, that breathes a little LIFE into some tired souls, and perhaps puts a smile on a few faces as I share my many blunders. I hope to write about issues that moms face, share with you things I’m learning, highlight some people who have made an impact in my life, and of course dote on my little family.

And, most of all, I pray everything written here brings glory to the name of our LORD. May He always be our first love and satisfaction.

“Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.” (Psalm 90:14, NLT)

  1. Just wanted to let you know that Pastors don’t have it all together either. There are days that we struggle with making sense of things also.Let me encourage you to dig deep into those people that have poured themselves into your life. You will find treasure there that is greater than golden nuggets. Let me encourage you to think of 3 people (even though there are many more) that have shaped your thought pattern and guided your life. For me 1. My grandfather. He took the time to encourage me and the time to mentor me and I have never known another man like him. 2. My Wife. She loved me when I did not love myself and she encouraged me to become the man (Pastor) that I am today. 3. My Son, He made me want to be a better dad. The thinks I learned about myself through him made me want to be a better man and a better pastor.and a Godly dad. and then….You… You have made me want to be a more loving, caring and giving man.If i could plant one thing into your life and the lives of your girls it would be this. I do not think I could give a great gift to any of you than to have a home where you felt safe and loved. For my grandkids to love me the way I loved my grandfather is the highest achievement and greatest goal i could ever attain in this life.

    1. Thank you for that encouragement! I am sure you would be on many lists of people who have been inspired by you. And I know for a fact that your granddaughters love you dearly!

  2. Amanda, you have always been a bright light when you enter the room. though a quiet spirit, you glow with the love of Jesus! i have struggled at times to connect with the ‘younger’ generation at church, but have also experienced such love from y’all when i have found the courage to say hello. i am looking forward to your sharing here, but also hope that i can be an encouragement to you as well. you are precious!!
